PVDF-Reinforced Hollow Fiber Membranes for Enhanced Biogas Methane Enrichment

Abstract
Biogas is a promising renewable energy source, and its methane content is critical for efficient energy utilization. Membrane-based separation technologies offer a sustainable and energy-efficient method for methane enrichment. This study explores the application of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow fiber membranes reinforced with advanced structural properties to improve the selectivity and permeability of methane from biogas. The performance of PVDF membranes was evaluated for their gas separation efficiency, mechanical stability, and long-term durability under varying operational conditions. Results demonstrated that PVDF reinforcement significantly enhances methane recovery while minimizing CO₂ and other impurities. The findings underscore the potential of PVDF hollow fiber membranes as a cost-effective and scalable solution for upgrading biogas into high-purity methane.
