Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being incorporated into Human Resource Management (HRM) to support recruitment, employee analytics, performance management, learning and development, and routine administrative work. This methodology paper examines the opportunities and challenges associated with AI adoption in HRM through a structured review of peer-reviewed literature published up to 2021. The review focuses on how AI and machine learning can improve efficiency, decision support, personalization, and data-driven HR practices, while also considering algorithmic bias, privacy, transparency, employee trust, skills gaps, and concerns about automation. Prior studies show that AI adoption in HRM is still developing and that effective implementation requires a balance between technological capability and human oversight. The paper proposes a literature-based framework linking AI technologies, HRM functions, organizational opportunities, and adoption challenges. The findings provide a concise basis for understanding responsible AI adoption in HRM and identifying areas for future empirical research.
