Abstract
Human resource (HR) practices shape the knowledge, motivation, commitment and opportunities that employees bring to their work. This methodology paper develops an empirical framework for examining the role of recruitment and selection, training and development, performance appraisal, compensation and rewards, and employee involvement in enhancing employee productivity. The proposed design uses a quantitative, cross-sectional survey of employees working in medium and large organizations, with a structured Likert-scale questionnaire and multivariate analysis. The framework is grounded in strategic human resource management and the ability-motivation-opportunity perspective, which suggests that coherent bundles of HR practices can improve productivity by strengthening employee skills, motivation and participation. Prior research has reported significant associations between high-performance work practices and productivity, turnover and organizational performance. The proposed methodology tests both the combined effect of HR practices and the contribution of individual practice dimensions. Illustrative results are included only to demonstrate how findings may be presented and interpreted; they are not claimed as original field observations. The study is expected to help managers identify HR practices that most directly support efficient, high-quality and sustainable employee performance
