Abstract

Misplacement of small kitchen appliances and utensils is a common problem that leads to inconvenience and wasted time in domestic environments. This paper presents the Kitchen Buzzer, a low-cost Internet of Things (IoT)-based system designed to assist users in locating misplaced kitchen items through remote audible alerts. The proposed system integrates an ESP32 microcontroller, a piezoelectric buzzer, and wireless communication technologies including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. A cross-platform mobile application developed using Flutter enables users to remotely trigger the buzzer and quickly identify the location of the associated object. The system architecture emphasizes affordability, portability, and ease of deployment while providing reliable real-time communication between the mobile application and hardware device. Experimental evaluation demonstrates effective device responsiveness and stable operation under both Bluetooth and internet-based communication modes. The proposed solution offers a practical approach to smart kitchen assistance and highlights the potential of embedded IoT technologies for addressing everyday household challenges. The system can be further extended with voice control, smart home integration, and multi-device management capabilities.
