Abstract

Cosmic voids are among the least understood structures in the universe. These massive regions, spanning hundreds of millions of light-years, contain extremely low matter density and almost no visible galaxies. Traditional astronomical observation techniques such as telescopes or single spacecraft missions provide limited insight into these regions due to their vast scale and lack of observable signals.

This paper explores the potential role of Swarm Artificial Intelligence (Swarm AI) in deep-space exploration, particularly in studying cosmic voids. Inspired by collective behaviour observed in nature such as ant colonies, bird flocks, and fish schools Swarm AI enables multiple autonomous agents to work collaboratively without centralized control. Instead of relying on a single spacecraft, a network of small intelligent probes can be deployed to explore large regions simultaneously, share data in real time, and adapt their exploration strategies dynamically.

The paper proposes a conceptual framework for deploying Swarm AI-powered probes to investigate cosmic voids. It discusses the technological architecture, communication systems, learning mechanisms, and potential applications of swarm-based exploration. Additionally, the paper addresses the challenges, ethical considerations, and implications of using autonomous AI systems in deep-space missions.
