EXTERNAL FACTORS INFLUENCING ON ACCURACY OF DISTANCE MEASUREMENT BY USE OF ULTRASONIC SENSORS

Abstract
Ultrasonic sensors (US) are widely used sensors for Measuring objects distance in different applications such as
parking sensors in automobiles, Robotic navigation, measuring distance between two objects etc. In our paper, we have
tested and reported how the external factors Effects on the accuracy of distance measurement system using ultrasonic
sensors. The aim of the paper is to define a starting point for designing the technical set up of the obstacle detection for
developing the navigation assistance system for the visually impaired persons. The distance measured using this sensor is
compared to the actual distance of the object from the sensor to the measured Distance Error (DE) under different
experimental conditions.
