A NOVEL STRATEGY FOR INSULIN RESISTANCE: INTERACTIVE ROLE OF INSULIN WITH OTHER HORMONES
Main Article Content
Abstract
As a metabolic hormone insulin regulates an impressive spectrum of physiological processes. Hormones do not
act only in a linear pathway. Hormonal pathways are interconnected by a complex network of interactions and feedback
circuits that determines the final outcome of the individual hormone actions. Insulin resistance is controlled by many
regulatory actions and this article will highlight the interaction of different hormones with insulin and how the process
may be impaired in the insulin resistant state. These interactions either potentiate or reduce the biological actions of
insulin and, therefore, attenuate or induce insulin resistance
